In October 2015, three of the New Forest SSP smaller schools took part in the Forest Schools Football competition at Ringwood School. The focus School Games Value for the competition was RESPECT. Children from Burley Primary School, Hale Primary School and Our Lady St Joseph’s Primary School demonstrated high levels of respect for each other, the officials and the spectators throughout the competition and were a credit to their respective schools.
The competition itself was very close with all teams competing for the points. Our Lady St Joseph’s started well after narrowly beating Burley 3-2 and then grabbing a last minute goal to share the points with a very strong Hale team. Burley were certainly not thinking of giving up the competition and took an early lead in their game against Hale and looked as though they would cling on to all the points. However, two late goals from the Hale team took all the points away from Burley.
In the reverse fixtures, the games were tight again with all three teams determined to fight to the final whistle. In the end it was the team from Our Lady St Joseph’s who took the GOLD medal, with Hale taking the SILVER and Burley the BRONZE.
The competition was supported by Ringwood School and their sports leaders.
